ABOUT US

Every human is born with the intrinsic ability to be resilient; it is there waiting and wanting to be discovered.

WHO WE are

We created Resilience Rising in 2019 as an intentional alternative to other group therapy practices. Turning away from the focus of “what is wrong with you” to what happened to you and, most importantly, what is right with you.

Each one of the therapists in our group did not begin their careers as a therapist. We have backgrounds in the corporate world, nonprofit leadership, acting, sales, and more. We are parents, divorcees, single, married, and have had our fair share of challenges. We became therapists because we’ve experienced first-hand the immense power and healing that can happen in session.

Our personal journeys give us the insight and experience to understand what you are facing, know your pain and, above all, know that you will be able to move through it to a life that is present and meaningful. Our approach is authentic, relational, and direct. We will work collaboratively with you to create the change you want in your life.

what we do

Our work with you will focus on four domains.

Your Patterns

We all have them. These are the core beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world around us. For some it might be that you need to please people to be likable. For others, it might be the need to be constantly perfect. These patterns affect our relationship with others and ourselves. With your therapist, you will explore attachment, your history, and relationships to understand how you interpret and filter the world.

Vulnerability

This can be a scary word, but it is essential to living as a human. We will work on identifying feelings, thoughts, and uncomfortable realities. More importantly, not just identifying the big ones such as anger but the tougher ones to express. Fear, dismissal, feeling that you are not enough or too much. Your therapist will also help you notice the ways our thoughts don’t serve you. How we can become trapped in worry or avoidance. But most importantly is that your experience is valid as a human being, and it is okay to not only express yourself to your therapist but to the important people in your life.

Values and Identity

Your therapist will explore what you value in your life and what parts of your identity you are not engaging in. What are the roadblocks to doing so? Human life is made for vitality and engagement with all our parts, when we don’t, we become unhappy. This is where we discover what is right with you and how you can engage and celebrate those parts of you that have faded or never actualized.

Action

There is solace and strength in understanding why you feel the way you do. Though it is important to be able to engage in action, and break cycles when we want to avoid and fold into ourselves away from experience. Therapy is one hour in 168 hours of a week, so it is of the utmost importance that we provide you with skills for day-to-day use when you are triggered, overwhelmed, or in distress. This can take form in different ways of thinking, mindfulness, motivating your commitment towards your wellbeing, or working through something you have been avoiding. We will work with you to discover what works best for you.
